Nick brings 30 years’ experience of supplying Flag and Flagpole services to the Events industry, Corporate Organisations and Government. He spent 8 years working for former Black and Edgington Group PLC (Royal Warrant Holder for Flags and Tents), in a variety of roles culminating in managing the Flag and Textiles Division based in Orpington Kent. Nick’s first major event was to work on the funeral of Diana Princess of Wales in 1997. This was a unique event that a generation had never seen or experienced before. Nick left to establish The Flag Consultancy Limited in 1998. He has specialised for the past 20 years on delivering services to Government, now partnering with Arcadis since 2014 to deliver services to the Department For Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) for Ceremonial events in London and Windsor.
Nick’s vast experience has played a major role in adapting and improving methods of flag productions to meet the challenging deadlines of Ceremonial events and continuous change to London’s infrastructure.
As Managing Director, Nick has built a highly experienced team around him, with Andy Grover – Projects Director, leading the DCMS / Arcadis Contract since 2014. Andy and Nick had previously worked together as Supplier / Contractor / Sub – Contractor since 2002 on major Ceremonial Events in London and Windsor. When I went to London at the weekend to pay my respects to the late Queen Elizabeth II, I spotted your team working along The Mall and took a few photos – I just wanted to say how splendid the Union Flags looked and what an honour and a privilege for you and your company to be involved in such an important yet solemn event. You can’t fail to be moved when you see them all draped in black as you walk down The Mall.
Your company was always extremely supportive of Wateringbury CE Primary School, helping us to have a flagpole and when we needed flags for parades etc. Forever grateful for your support.
Absolutely delighted with the flagpole! The guys did a great job from start to finish……very neat, organised and super-polite. The concrete plinth is barely visible under the collar. I have attached a photo for your album!
Many thanks to you for making this all happen in time for the Jubilee. Much appreciated. With kind regards,
Hi Nick, The flagpole is all installed and operational now, many thanks to you and your team for the quick and excellent service.
Thank you very much – from Debbie, myself and the whole Arcadis team – to all of your team for their phenomenal hard work throughout the preparation for and the delivery of your services throughout London Bridge. You have once again proved to be a fantastic partner in the delivery of our Ceremonial Event Management Service.
“Thanks very much for all your help with the flagpoles. Your sound advice was much appreciated. The event was a huge success. Your team were so kind and professional, especially Brian who patiently helped pack the poles and transport them through the ICC. He even endured getting trapped in the lift with me. Look forward to working with you again on the next one. Best wishes.
